Scripture: “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” – Psalm 34:14
Examination: In Psalm 34, David is writing about the goodness of God, and that He listens to His children. Several times he mentions that the Lord listens, and of course, that He delivers!
Application: Sometimes life gets so busy that it seems like no one has any time for anyone else. People ask, “How are you?”, but they don’t really want to know; they’re simply engaging in polite societal greetings. Maybe you’ve felt like others hear you, but they’re not really listening to you. When it seems like no one is in our corner, thoughts of unworthiness and rejection creep into our psyche, and we begin to believe the lies our heart tells us in that no one cares.
When someone is fully present for us, a loving, supportive relationship begins to be established. When someone listens when we need a sympathetic ear, it creates an emotional connection that fosters trust and security. However, juggling a busy lifestyle makes it difficult for many to give the time needed to develop those caring relationships that we all need. This can lead to feelings of sadness and social isolation.
Fortunately, it is so different for God. He has the time, the ability, and the desire to build a strong and personal relationship with us. He watches over us always. The Bible tells us in Job 34:21, “For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.” He watches not some of what we are doing, but all, and He does it every moment of every day!
God also listens to us. In Psalm 116, the Psalmist wrote, “I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.” God hears us every time we pray, and when we do, He gives us His full attention.
Psalm 95:7 explains, “For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.” We belong to God. He is our Shepherd. He is devoted to us. He knows each of us by name! He listens to each of us as if we were the only one calling out to Him. He watches us as if we were the only one for Him to keep an eye on. That is the love that God has for you and me. All encompassing, unconditional, and everlasting!
Memory Verse: “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.” – John 15:9
I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus
Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true;
I would tell you how He changed my life completely -
He did something that no other friend could do.
No one ever cared for me like Jesus;
There's no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me -
O how much He cared for me!
